Military
Odyssey 2008 was our biggest event thousands of fellow re-enactors portraying
medieval, Neopolianic period, American Civil War right to 2nd World war, or
the Great Patriotic War as known to the Soviet peoples.
We had a guest from Japan and two from Spain so giving the unit an 'International'
feel to things. In the evening we even managed to relax in a banya, but that's
another story................!

Military
Odyssey 2008 attended by some of the 2nd Guards Rifle Division.
The
T35 drives advances.
The
Tiger Tank meets it's end after being hit by the T34.
The
Red Banner section charge forward through the SS lines.
Meanwhile
the German MG42 gunner tries to hold the advancing Red Army troops....
These
Red Army soldiers are determined to win. The soldier without any headwear is
an Engineer NCO wearing steel body armour.
The
Mladshiy Serzhant tends to a wounded comrade, an Engineer armed with the PPSh-41
sub-machine gun. The Engineers breast armour is just visible.
The
unit standard bearer advances with the troops.
Red
Army female troops are eager to destroy the German invaders and sweep them from
their homeland as they ride into battle on a T34.
The
Red Banner section of the 1st Guards Rifle Regiment and part of the 2nd Guards
Rifle Division hold the enemy and prepare for the advance.
One
of the many partizans who fought to save the Motherland from the fascist invader.
Armed with a sniper Nagant rifle he gets ready to aim and revenge the invader
in blood !
An
NCO tank rider is ready for action.
The
SS are over run and have either surrendered or have fallen. The C/O makes sure
there are some prisoners left to interigate!
Other
members of the Red Banner section are aware as a single shot is heard, it may
be an SS fanatic who doesn't realise that the battle is lost and it's the 2nd
Guards Rifle Division who have won the day!
The
Germans are on retreat back to Berlin with the Red Army on hot pursuit.
The
glorious 2nd Guards Rifle Division have destroyed the SS, now there on there
way to the Germans homeland, East Prussia!
A
good view from earlier on during the battle as the Red Army engineer opens up
on on coming German vehicles with his PPSh-41 sub-machinegun. You can just see
a spent cartridge above his elbow.
The
victorious Red Banner, Suvorov and Neveski sections march on towards their next
objective.
With
the battle won it's time to relax and discuss the day.
